DIY Ribbon Bookmark

Here's a quick little last minute DIY just in time for gift wrapping all those Christmas presents. This ribbon bookmark adds an extra touch to any gift weather it id for Christmas or all year round.

You will be needing a glue gun and wired ribbon of your choice. (Make sure it is wired that way the ribbon is easier to manipulate.)

Fold and overlap the ribbon over and over again until you get a desired look and glue down. You can make it as long as you would like. I used a book to measure the size I wanted mine to be.

Once you are done gluing you can leave it as is or you can glue a piece of cord to the back of the bookmark and add it to a tag like below. You can also cut the end of the ribbon to finish off the bookmark however you want. You can make many different colors and styles to match any occasion.

Make your own gift-wrapping bow wreath

If you are like me and are not done decorating for Christmas, you will love this simple and inexpensive bow wreath! It's perfect to add a little holiday cheer to your home or office.

You will need gift wrapping bows, a floral wreath (I found mine at a dollar store), and a glue gun.

Place the bows in whatever order you will like and then grab your glue gun and glue them into place. You can go ahead and add bows to the sides or inside if you would like. Then you will be done! You can mix and match patterns or follow one color scheme. Be sure to #catchherdreaming if you make your own so we can see it! Follow us on instagram @catchherdreaming

Good reads

If you have not heard of the book The Promise of a Pencil then here is a chance for you to learn a little more about it. It is a really amazing and inspiring story of Adam Braun founder of Pencils of Promise. This For-purpose organization helps build schools in different countries around the world providing education to those who do not have the opportunity. Adam's story is so amazing and kept me from putting the book down. Adam knew his life had a greater purpose than the life he was living before and decided to take the first step and make his dreams become a reality.
This book has inspired me in so many ways and it makes me want to go out write my own story,  and make an impact.  This book had me thinking that if Adam would have given up on his dream he wouldn't have made the impact he has. This book is full of amazing quotes and by the end of the book you will feel so inspired to do more in life, to walk with purpose.
I loved this quote from Howard Thurman found in the first few pages in the book.
Hope you all check out the book and I hope it inspires you also to write your own story.

California Lovin

Summer where have you gone? I can't believe fall is right around the corner! I am definitely ready for sweater weather! Here's a quick recap of our recent trip  to California

We visited the Ventura County Fair. there's one thing you need to know about us is that we LOVE county fairs! Everything about them is awesome! We love the food, animals, just the whole experience! We stopped by and watched two horse shows.

Later we ended up at out favorite place ever and that's the Beach!

Ventura Beach is so peaceful there's not a lot of tourist or people. The day was pretty gloomy but it was perfect!

If you ever visit Acton California, you must stop by at Blum Ranch. This place is so beautiful. They sell peaches, figs, and other fresh fruit. They also have jams and  honey. And they even have filmed some movies and shows there!

It was such a beautiful trip and although it was a short trip we did get to do a lot of things. Hopefully we get to go back real soon! Hope you all are enjoying the last  days of summer! Follow us on Instagram @catchherdreaming

Hollywood Theme Party

A while back ago one of Mel's friend asked if we could help her put together a Hollywood themed party for her daughter who was turning 10. She wanted the party to be on a low budget so we handmade most of the decorations and Mel also made the cake. Here's a look at the party planning.

We wanted to create some type of banner to place on the cake so we ended up doing these simple signs to go with the Hollywood theme.

To make your own all you need are some letter stickers, toothpicks, tape and card stock. Simply cut even rectangles or squares and place a letter sticker on top. Tape a toothpick on the back and its ready to place on a cake!

A custom made mini stage was set in the middle of the backyard we placed some letters and stars we spray painted on a piece of table cloth taped to the back of the tent. The stage was used to present the best dressed awards. Each child walked down the red carpet and was given a special moment on stage after receiving a mini Oscar.

Red Carpet and entrance to the party
Even the dog house had some Hollywood glam.

Custom made vanity for the party. I have to say this was a success. The kids loved dressing up and taking pictures.

Here's the cake we ended up designing and making. We did add spotlights to it with real flashing lights. It was the first cake we made with fondant and we really loved how it turned out. The birthday girl approved she was so excited!
The end result. The hard work and time was worth it. Can't wait to see what else we have to plan next!

Five Simple ways to save money

1. Buy only if you need

Every time I go shopping I always ask myself "Do I really need this?". I've been doing this for a while now and realized how much money I saved by not buying things I do not need. It may be hard at first to say no to something you really like but think about it, you don't need so many tops or accessories. I have donated tons of clothing items I once bought, thinking I'll wear it, and end up not using. It's really just a waste of money and takes up space in my closet.

2. Clean sweep

Dig though your stuff. You will find things you forgot you had. Trust me this really helps because instead of buying new stuff you get to style what you found.

3. Stay Away

Stay away from stores! This is has helped me save like crazy. I would go shopping to target every week and spend $20-30 on stuff I don't need. I decided to go less often and I've noticed a huge difference. I try staying away from stores I know will have something good I would want to buy. The key really is just stay away, do not go to the store unless you need to.

4. Look for good deals

Don't be afraid of looking through the clearance section. I've found many good items on the clearance rack, things I had planned on buying before. I once bought a shirt for full price only to find it 75% off a few weeks later. You can find some really good things on the clearance rack, just keep an open mind.

5. Hide your money

Before you head out the door only carry with you certain amount of cash. I tend to overspend when I know I have more cash in my wallet. If you are a card person start carrying around cash and try to stay away from card swiping.

Follow these tips and I'm sure you'll notice a huge difference! Think about it all that money you save can go towards a nice vacay or in my case a new camera. Let me know how it goes and Good luck!

Diy Sugar Scrub

I have been using this scrub for a while now and have noticed how soft my skin has become. It's natural and so inexpensive, also great for everyday use. During the winter my skin gets extremely dry. My hands and elbows get so rough so I started using this sugar scrub and my hands and elbows now feel so smooth. The sugar exfoliates and gets rid if dead skin cells while the olive oil leaves your skin moisturized. This stuff works really good on your lips too. I just put some on, rub my lips together, rinse it off and voila! Soft baby lips!
Make this scrub with only three easy steps:

Step 1- Grab an empty container and add granulated sugar either half way or as much as you would like to make. I reused one of my Bath and Body works candle jars to store it in. This also makes a great gift idea just fill the jar up with the scrub!

Step 2- Add olive over the sugar and mix it until it looks like this. You can also try using coconut oil which ever you prefer!

Step 3-  Use it during a shower rub it all over your skin and wash it off. Results? Soft and smooth skin.

Favorite Workout Gear

w

Ruched tank / Yoga activewear / Activewear top / oGorgeous Gym Boutique - Train Insane Yoga Mat / oGorgeous Gym Boutique - Train Insane Boyfriend Tank

I was looking at some workout gear and came across these fun workout tops. I love the motivational quotes that they share. I think its a good way to motivate not only yourself but also others. Whether you work out at the gym, outside, or in your home, these tops are fun and great to wear. I really like the yoga mat and I am thinking about purchasing it. The quote it has really motivates me because it is so true. If we do not train insane, we will only remain the same. If you want to see results and see your body change, you have to work hard. I've been doing a lot of Blogilates lately, and have been really sticking to it. On weekends I head out to the desert and walk/run with my dogs a mile or two. I do however, want to dedicate more time doing exercise and training harder. I want to get myself fit and stay fit. We can all accomplish our fitness goals, but it takes dedication and determination to get it done. Sore today, strong tomorrow! Treat yourself to some nice workout clothes while you are at it.Good luck on your fitness goals if you have any and I hope you accomplish them.

I'm so excited to announce the opening of our Etsy shop. It has been on our minds forever to open it up, and it's amazing to see it come together. New things will be added this week. Hope you go and check it out here

It has been 20 days into the new year. I hope this quote helps to keep you all motivated on reaching your goals for this year. Get started on whatever it is you plan for this year. If you don't have time, make time. Start today, or any day as long as you start. You'll look back and be glad that you began something new.

Hey Mickey

I put together this look of current fashion items I'm loving. I have to say I'm in love with everything. As much as I want to purchase all these things, this year I decided to only purchase an item if I really need it. Here are the pieces broken down

 1. Forever 21 booties  I'm obsessed with boots and I thought these would look great with jeans or shorts. I like how they can go with any outfit wheather it's dressy or casual.

2.Disney Junior's Sequin Mickey Sweatshirt Gray I'm a kid at heart and I freaked when I saw this sequin Mickey Mouse sweater. Who doesn't like Disney? I love anything Disney.

3. Yellow beanie hat  This beanie from target is perfect for those days my hair is a total mess, plus the mustard color makes it ten times better.

4.Feather hair accessory  Love these feather pins. I think they would look great styled with braided hair.

5.Forever 21 clothing I'm not really a jegging person, but these jeggings from Forever 21 look like they can go with anything. The best part is that they are affordable.
